Unveiling a Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have discovered a variety of interesting independent titles. Yet, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is literally a dung striving to navigate to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."
Player controls is straightforward: you only need a single jump button. In one hundred fifty challenges, you'll face boss fights and visit a shop to buy outfits for your fecal avatar.
Time your jumps carefully, as a mistake requires starting over. Bounce off air pockets to propel yourself to new heights, cross disappearing ledges, and interact with triggers to open secret routes. Gather currency and use them on more difficult levels in which gameplay intensifies.
Graphically, the experience features neon level designs and a killer music score. The simple graphics with moving basic polygons may remind players of classic titles like Earthbound.
Even though tough to recall other games where you are a piece of feces, video games often featured scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as soil enrichment. Naturally, fecal references appears a lot in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to arrive on PC in the fall.
